BC ALPINE: PCC - ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Introduction:
The BC Provincial Coaches Council (PCC) was formed to strengthen, clarify and streamline the existing BC Alpine rules and policy procedures. Using our advantage as a unified province, this process will allow BC Alpine clubs and members to have an outlet to influence the decision-making process for responsibilities outlined below.
For this system to see its full potential, all four zones must take leadership in acquiring the suggestions, opinions and comments of all the clubs within that zone. This would allow any recommendation from any club to be brought forward and discussed by a group of appointed representatives, called Provincial Coaches Council (former Zone Coach Reps) based on the responsibilities outlined below.
PCC Responsibilities:
- The PCC will manage all program rules and policies for BC Alpine races and procedures during the Spring of each season under the direction of the BC Alpine Program Director. Note: the Fall AGM is used for dissemination of information and not for any major program decisions.
- Communicate with all clubs within the zone to receive feedback on all program related issues.
- Regularly communicate with BC Alpine Zone Chairs to ensure all appropriate items are on the zone meeting agendas.
- Lead and facilitate discussions at all zone meetings and document feedback.
- At BC Alpine race events, PCC chairs (age group Divisional Rep) may be required to speak on behalf of BC Alpine on rules, structures, selections, etc in the event that a BC Alpine staff member is not present at that event.
- Attend the Spring/Fall PCC meeting (all expenses paid by BC Alpine i.e. for 1 night and 1 registration day). This meeting will be the day prior to the BC Alpine coaches meeting (unless it is the same day).
- Represent their zone at the PCC Meeting with the best interest of the entire province as the goal.
- All agenda items for the Provincial Coaches Council meetings will be distributed to the club Head Coaches and the zone chairs at least two weeks prior to the PCC meeting.
- Review all BC Alpine program related rules, race calendars, selection procedures, race formats, from K1 through to FIS and make recommendations to improve or maintain existing rules.
- All recommendations will be monitored by the BC Alpine Program Director and brought forward to the attending coaches at the Friday Coach meeting by the chairs of the PCC.
- The final recommendations will be presented by the PCC chairs to the members at the Saturday Spring General Meeting.
