| • GOLD MEDALS | GOLD MEDALS to the hard working volunteers and coaches at the K2 Provincial Championships. The Windermere Valley Ski Club would like to thank all those K2 parents who stepped up and volunteered at the BC Alpine K2 Provincials held this past week at Panorama Mountain Village. Your support was very much appreciated! We couldn't have done it without you! Thanks also to a great group of coaches. It was a pleasure meeting and working with you all! (from Marina Pomeroy, Race Chair)
GOLD MEDALS to Mark Armour, Neal Curry and Arnie Erickson for their tremendous commitment of time and effort for 28 long days ensuring setup, running, tear down and loading of 7000 meters of B Net during the races at Apex Mountain Resort. This kind of commitment is instrumental in the success of every event.
GOLD MEDALS to Ron Arsenault, Walter Merritt and Arnie Erickson for all their hard work in establishing and feeding the media materials that allowed for unprecedented media exposure of the Mars and Pontiac GMC events at Apex Mountain Resort. The walls of the race office were covered with stories, photos and athlete profiles. All the visibility in the news and on the hill makes our sponsors very happy.
AND IN THE WORDS OF AN APPRECIATIVE PARENT: ”I just wanted to let everyone know what an fabulous job the people from Apex Mountain Ski Club did while hosting the Mars Super G and Downhill event. I was petrified at the thought of my daughter racing a downhill, but after seeing not only the care and preparation of the course, but also the safety measures put in place, my fears were (somewhat) calmed. Apex is a small club with few FIS level racers, yet most of the parents and families were out working each of the 7 days. The people from Apex Ski Club were amazing to work with! Of note, the volunteer lunches were the best I have ever had!!!!! Hats off to Apex” sincerely, Irma Hurlbert - Sunshine Ski Club, Alberta
