 • PANORAMA SPRING SERIES - VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED
Decision Day is fast approaching for the Spring Series and we are still short approximately 25 volunteers to run 2 race courses. Unless 15 materialize between now and March 21, we will condense to one ROC and quota the race. We have done everything within our power to round up volunteers in our small town of 5000 residents and we just can't get to the magic number. Again, we appeal to Alberta and BC race parents to help make this a good race for ALL FIS racers! We really don't want to see anyone excluded, but we want to hold an event of reasonable quality for the participants. We still have some free accommodation left and are now assigning it to those able to volunteer for 3 days or more. If you can assist, please e-mail  gordon@bagan.ca  Thank you in advance!  ~ Windermere Valley Ski Club Spring Series ROC

 • REPORT FROM ANDREW LAMBERT, MEN'S TEAM COACH
The BC Men's Team has been busy preparing for the final push in March.  Our team went off in several different directions at the beginning of March.  Ben Thomsen (along with Elli Terwiel from the women’s BC Team) was selected to compete for Canada at the World Junior Champs in Flachau, Austria.  He met some of his personal goals there, finishing top 30 in both the SG and DH.

The majority of the BC Team (Conrad Pridy, Trevor Rose, Ian Cumming and Stan Rey) headed out to the Yukon for the Canada Winter Games, along with WMSC athlete JD Mclean.  Greeted with -40 C temperatures and thousands of other athletes, our athletes were presented with a new experience and new challenges.  The race hill (Mt Sima, just outside of Whitehorse) gave us a good quality race (SG, GS and SL).  The men had some decent results in a competitive field.  JD McLean (WMSC) narrowly missed the podium in SG, finishing 4th.  Conrad Pridy had two 5th place finishes while Trevor Rose came 7th in the slalom.  The highlight of the competition was Kelsey Serwa (BC Women's Team) taking home gold for Team BC in the GS.  Overall our guys had a respectable team performance - the men finished 3rd in the overall provincial standings, with Ontario 1st, Quebec 2nd and Alberta 4th.  During this time, Jonathan Hadley competed in the Reese Cup in Alberta, achieving a career best technical result in the SL, finishing 2nd.

The team is now in Panorama for the Nor Am Finals, followed by the National Championships in Whistler and finally back to Panorama for the spring series.  It's a big month for us.  Our six guys are all healthy and looking forward to the challenges ahead.
COACHING
 • ALPINE CANADA ANNUAL COACHES' SUMMIT

Mark April 30th - May 2nd, 2007 on your calendar. ACA and the CSCF will host the second annual Coaching Summit in Calgary, AB on these dates. The summit is aimed at Level 3 and Level 4 professional coaches who are actively coaching at the FIS level and higher. The 2006 summit was a success with all the Canadian Alpine Ski Team coaches, provincial team coaches and some club head coaches in attendance. This year's will be even better!

In addition to coaches meetings and seminars, ACA will add a "congress" component this year that will broaden the scope of the content appealing to more than just coaches. Watch ACA's website for more details and registration info. If you are working at the FIS level and you've committed to ski coaching as a career, then you should be there.

Here is a PROPOSED AGENDA - Registration will begin soon, location details to follow.

Next season, there will be an additional testing module added to the on-line application to make it available as a professional development module for Entry and Development Level coaches.
